Stop Waiting for the Perfect Time

I’ve been thinking about something lately.

How many times have we told ourselves:

“I’ll start Monday.”
“I’ll do it when life settles down.”
“I’ll take better care of myself when I have more time.”
“I’m too old to start that now.”
“I should have done this years ago.”

I know I’ve said some of those things.

But at 58, I’m realizing something pretty important:

There may never be a perfect time.

Life Doesn't Slow Down for Us

There is always going to be something.

Family. Work. Stress. Bills. Holidays. Someone needs you. Something breaks. Plans change.

If I keep waiting for everything to line up perfectly before I start taking care of myself, learning something new, chasing a dream, or doing something that scares me a little…

I might be waiting forever.

And I don't want to do that anymore.

Look at Me Right Now 😂

If you had told me a few years ago that at 58 I would be learning about longevity, molecules, peptides, nutrition, red light, cold plunges and all kinds of things I had never heard of before, I probably would have laughed at you.

If you had told me Robert and I would start Holy Moly Molecules, I definitely would have laughed.

A blog?

A podcast?

Starting new things at 58?

Yet here I am.

And you know what?

I'm having fun learning.

Do I know everything? Absolutely NOT. 😂

Do I get things wrong sometimes? Of course.

Do I change my mind when I learn something new? Yep.

That's part of the journey.

You Don't Have to Change Everything Today

I think this is where we make health too hard.

We decide we're going to change our entire life overnight.

New diet. Exercise every day. Drink a gallon of water. Take every vitamin. Get eight hours of sleep. Give up sugar. Start fasting.

By Wednesday we're exhausted. 😂

What if we stopped doing that?

Pick ONE thing.

Drink more water today.

Walk a little farther.

Eat some more protein.

Go to bed a little earlier.

Read something that teaches you something new.

Call somebody you love.

Spend a few quiet minutes with God.

Then tomorrow, do another little thing.

Those little choices add up.

Don't Let Your Age Decide What's Next

This one has become really important to me.

I'm 58.

There was a time when I might have looked at that number and thought I should be slowing down.

Now I look at it differently.

Why can't I start something new at 58?

Why can't someone start exercising at 60?

Learn something new at 65?

Start a business at 70?

Take the trip at 75?

We spend so much time thinking about how many years have already passed that sometimes we forget about the years that may still be ahead of us.

I don't know how many God has planned for me.

None of us do.

But I do know I want to do something with the days I'm given.

Give Yourself Some Grace

Taking care of yourself doesn't mean being perfect.

I have good days.

I have days when I eat something I probably shouldn't.

Days when I don't feel like exercising.

Days when I'm tired.

Days when my motivation is nowhere to be found.

That's called being human.

One bad day doesn't erase everything you've done.

Get up tomorrow and start again.

Maybe Today IS the Perfect Time

Maybe we've been looking at this backward.

Maybe the perfect time isn't when everything is easy.

Maybe the perfect time is simply today.

Today is the day you actually have.

So whatever you've been putting off—your health, your faith, that dream, that conversation, that new adventure—maybe you don't need to have the whole thing figured out.

Just take the first step.

I'm 58 years old, still learning, still changing, still dreaming, still going down rabbit holes 😂, and still figuring out what I want the next chapter of my life to look like.

And I've decided I'm not waiting for the perfect time anymore.

God gave me today. I'm going to use it. ❤️
