Are We Making Health To Complicated ?
Have we made getting healthy way more complicated than it needs to be? 🤔 In this week's Molecule Movement, I'm talking about getting back to the basics — real food, water, movement, sleep, sunshine, managing stress and loving your people. ❤️ Sometimes living better isn't about adding MORE… it's about remembering the simple things we already know matter.

Are We Making Health Too Complicated?
I have been thinking about this a LOT lately.
Have we made being healthy way too complicated?
Every time I get on social media, somebody is telling me I need something else. 😂
Take this supplement.
Don't eat that.
Eat more of this.
Fast for 16 hours.
No, fast for 12.
Walk 10,000 steps.
Cold plunge.
Red light.
Grounding.
Drink this.
Don't drink that.
And don't even get me started on all the different opinions about carbs. 😂
Sometimes I sit there and think…
How in the world did our grandparents survive without an app telling them when to drink water?
I Love Learning… But Sometimes We Need to Get Back to Basics
Y'all know me by now.
If I hear about something that might help us feel better or age better, I'm probably going to research it.
That's just who I am.
I love learning about longevity and biohacking. Robert and I even went back to school and became certified Longevity and Biohacking Coaches because we wanted to understand more about the things we were already so interested in.
But the more I learn, the more I keep coming back to something very simple:
The fancy stuff doesn't replace the basics.
You can buy every supplement under the sun, but what does your everyday life look like?
Are you drinking enough water?
Are you eating actual food?
Are you moving your body?
Are you getting outside?
Are you sleeping?
Are you constantly stressed?
Are you spending time with people you love?
Those things aren't very exciting.
Nobody is going viral on TikTok telling you to go to bed at a reasonable time. 😂
But they matter.
Biohacking Doesn't Have to Be Crazy
The word biohacking can make it sound like we're turning ourselves into science experiments.
That's really not how I look at it.
For me, biohacking can be something as simple as paying attention.
How did I sleep last night?
How do I feel after eating certain foods?
Do I feel better when I get outside in the morning?
What happens to my energy when I don't drink enough water?
Am I moving enough during the day?
That's learning your body.
Then you make small changes and see what happens.
Not everything needs to cost $500 or come with a charger. 😂
And Then There Are Supplements, Molecules and All the New Stuff
This is where I think we REALLY need to keep our heads on straight.
There are some fascinating things being studied right now in longevity, metabolism and cellular health.
That's part of why we created The Molecule Movement.
I love learning about it.
I love asking questions.
And I definitely love going down a good rabbit hole. 😂
But "interesting" doesn't automatically mean "proven."
And "new" doesn't automatically mean "better."
Sometimes the research is strong.
Sometimes it's early.
Sometimes something looks amazing in a laboratory but we don't have enough good human research yet to know what it will actually mean long term.
That's why I'm trying to get better about asking:
What do we actually know?
Not what somebody on Facebook says.
Not what somebody is selling.
Not what sounds exciting.
What does the evidence actually show?
And sometimes the answer is…
"We don't know yet."
I'm learning to be okay with that answer.
You Don't Have to Change Everything Monday Morning
I think this is another place we mess ourselves up.
We decide we're going to "get healthy," and suddenly we're changing 15 things at once.
New diet.
New supplements.
New workout.
New sleep schedule.
No sugar.
No bread.
No fun. 😂
Then two weeks later we're exhausted and done with all of it.
What if we just changed one thing?
Drink more water this week.
Walk after dinner.
Go to bed 30 minutes earlier.
Eat more protein and vegetables.
Put the phone down for a little while.
Spend some time outside.
Then once that becomes normal, work on something else.
That may not sound exciting, but doing something consistently is probably going to get us a whole lot further than doing everything perfectly for five days.
Your Body Isn't Someone Else's Body
This may be one of the biggest things I've learned.
Just because something works wonderfully for your friend doesn't mean it's going to work exactly the same way for you.
We all have different bodies, different histories, different medications, different lifestyles and different goals.
That's also why I don't like the idea of blindly copying someone's entire wellness routine from social media.
Ask questions. Research. Pay attention to your own body. And when something involves your health or medications, talk with a qualified healthcare professional who knows your situation.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being curious.
I think curiosity is a GOOD thing.
But curiosity and common sense can live in the same house. 😂
Maybe Living Better Really Is the Goal
I'm not trying to live forever.
I don't think Robert is either. 😂
I just want us to feel as good as we reasonably can while we're here.
I want energy to enjoy our family.
I want to keep learning.
I want to laugh.
I want to travel.
I want to wake up and be thankful for another day God gave me.
And yes, I'll probably still be reading about some new molecule at midnight because apparently that's just who I am now. 😂
But I'm also realizing that sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves isn't another product or another complicated routine.
Sometimes it's getting back to the things we already know matter.
Eat better. Move. Sleep. Get outside. Manage your stress. Love your people. Keep learning. Ask questions.
Then we can explore the other stuff from there.
Maybe health doesn't have to be nearly as complicated as we've made it.
And maybe that's the biohack we keep overlooking. ❤️
